I just got the notice for my 50th high school
reunion
I have attended a couple in the past
They may have been the 30th and 40th
They were ok
But after about an hour
I was ready to go back to my life
When I got the half century invite
For a few days I thought about attending
There are a few people it would be nice to see
Say hi
Hear a little about their lives again
But then I will want to go home
This does not seem like $40 well spent
I realized the deep seated appeal
The one perhaps worth $40
Was
Maybe the popular people
Would be interested in talking to me
It is amazing
After 50 years
There still is the desire
To be welcomed
By the once socially elite from my past
I have tucked that desire away again
It is easily done
